Safeway is a family owned business, with its owners being recognized within the food industry for their knowledge, quality products and innovation. The family has been active in the food business for over thirty-five years.
Sal Tedesco, was a third generation farmer and knew that to survive in the trade, he had to add value to his commodities. Accordingly, he and his wife, Anna, developed a plan in the early 1980s and began manufacturing value added products focusing on providing fresh produce, wet salads, soups and entrees for the food service and retail sectors in the northeastern U.S.
As young children, Sal and Anna’s sons, Frank and Sam, were part of the family business. They learned all aspects of the food industry and grew up within this dynamic business. Today, these gentleman, join their father Sal as owners in Safeway with a vision of being known in the Northeastern United States for their leadership edge in bringing exceptional value added products to market.
Together, the Tedesco Family expanded and created many value added products that received exceptional brand recognition within the market place. Through the development of many proprietary products and processes; the Tedesco’s became best known in the industry for their cutting-edge approach to manufacturing and innovation.
The Safeway Staff is comprised of only the most capable and diligent men and women—many with extensive experience in this or related industries. All are responsive and answerable to our hundreds of contract customers. Our management team is involved and available round-the-clock to solve critical issues should they arise.
